Before I had my three boys, I never thought I would write a sentence that contained the phrase…”I have found the perfect school run outfit.” The sentence in itself sounds awful; and also appears to demonstrate that you actually care what people think of you whilst dropping off your kids at 8 am in the morning!
However, now that I am a mum – I have come to realise that the ‘perfect school run outfit’ isn’t just about making you look good, it’s all about making you feel good. And If you feel great, then chances are, your day has started off on the right foot.
At times when the kids have already tipped you over the edge (often before 6:45 am in my case!) and the day looms uncertainly ahead of you; a great school run outfit can put you back in control, striking the perfect balance between comfortable and fashionable. It is all about keeping things simple. A relaxed look that means that you can equally flop on the sofa in an exhausted heap after the school run, or head straight to a meeting feeling appropriately dressed. It covers all scenarios. And that makes my life easier!
This outfit fills me with confidence. It is relaxed and casual, with the beautiful YSL bag pulling the whole look together. It is also fashionable, with the fringe detailing and the muted colours. This fringed ” &Other Stories” jumper is very flattering, as the vertical stripes slim and elongate the torso. It does, however, comes up slightly short, so I would definitely size up unless you like flaunting your stomach (no way Jose). “&Other Stories” is brilliant, apart from its AWFUL, AWFUL returns policy which makes me balk at ever buying online from them again. Everyone loves a pair of luxe joggers, and these cotton ones from American Vintage are super comfortable and very flattering. They keep their shape and are not too thick, thus they don’t add too much bulk like some other sweatpants can do. My YSL trainers add a bit of glam to the whole look- they are pricey, but they are well worth the investment, as they have become a wardrobe staple.
I have been wearing these earrings from Missoma so regularly as they go with every outfit. Beautifully made and at a great price, they are so classic and slightly quirky, and are a nod to subtle glamour. Wearing this outfit makes me feel like I know what I am doing, even if once I get to school for 8am, I realise that I have forgotten my son’s sport kit, violin and homework at home. Well, we can’t have it all can we?!
