Who knew that French Connection had an older sister?! We like to consider ourselves knowledgeable about brands and new trends, but had no idea that French Connection had any link to the classic Great Plains clothing brand. Whilst good old FCUK is the trendy younger sister, Great Plains is the older sister- more classic and jam-packed full of awesome clothes…. pieces that will transcend any random fashion trend and be wearable for many years to come. And all at high street prices!
French Connection has been the brand that walked hand in hand with most of us ladies throughout our teenage years, throughout universities and first jobs – we really think that you can pick out certain points of your life from the brands that you wear, and FCUK was there for the ride for a long time. But, now, Great Plains has slowly creeped into our consciousness, and we are completely loving the flattering, simple, and fun pieces that are also so versatile.
The Lorenzo Lace Mix Shirt (on sale at £36!!) that Caroline is wearing is bang on trend with the 3D floral ideas that were sashaying down the catwalks, and with a hint of inspiration from Self-Portrait, it appears designer, but at high street prices. The Lucia Lace Mix Bomber Jacket (on sale at £72) that Jessica is wearing is beautifully made, easy to wear and already a wardrobe staple.
Caroline’s new favourite find is this gorgeous light weight Ditsy Daydream viscose shirt dress – the simple shape with a same fabric wrap belt is so timeless, but with a little twist….. that subtle fish-tail shaped hem at the back transforms this dress into something slightly quirky. That is what Great Plains does so well… classics with a modern twist. This little number also transforms seamlessly from day to night with just a change of shoe and slightly heavier eye make up.
