Sometimes a girl just falls in love with something she knows she shouldn’t have. It happens to the best of us, and, right now, that girl is me! It doesn’t matter how hard I try to ignore the desire, occasionally it just gets the better of me. I am, of course, talking about shopping. For me, it hit me hard in the form of this sparkling layered sequinned maxi dress. I just had to have it. And, surely, with Christmas nearly around the corner, who am I to ignore my craving for the ultimate party dress?!
Clearly, it is a ‘very practical dress to wear for cleaning, the school run and general everyday wear’….Well those are the pathetic excuses I gave my husband when he discovered this tulle and sequin beauty hanging pride of place in my wardrobe, with the price tag still attached (school girl error!) Still, once safely in my wardrobe and armed with all these brilliant excuses as to why I needed this beautiful specimen of a dress, it was safe to say that my hubby knew I was going to keep it, and that nobody was going to stop me.
I first discovered this Sequinned Tulle Maxi dress from Ganni one evening when I was tucked up in bed at 8pm, exhausted after a long day with the kids. It leapt out at me from my computer screen, and screamed cool and stylish – two things I was definitely not feeling at the time. The instant I laid eyes on this dress, I saw a mother in control and out to have some fun. With a pair of biker boots, and a biker inspired jacket to offset the glitz, this dress would be my ideal look for a mum’s supper, or a big night out on the town (or both!) And, accessorised with a high heel and clutch for that special Christmas party, this dress would be the ultimate party sparkle.
Skin-tight clothing was never my cup of tea before children and is definitely not my cup of tea after having kids! This dress is loose fitting and also hugs the body in all the right places. The swirly, sequinned leaf pattern is both beautiful and timeless, and the delicate tulle adds a playful, girly contrast to the strong pattern. The detailing around the neck and sleeves finish the dress off perfectly, and the long sleeves make this dress an ideal year round hard worker.
