If you hadn’t already noticed, we love Missoni. And it turns out that we are not alone in our obsession for this brand – which is jam-packed full of eclectic colours and crazy prints. They have a unique ability to put together colour combinations and prints that, on paper, should be ghastly, but in reality are effortlessly stunning. And it is this that sets Missoni apart from other brands. It is therefore no surprise that our Missoni obsession has now spilled over from our wardrobes into areas of our homes as well.
Little pops of Missoni throughout our houses such as a pouf, a colourful throw, or even a bath mat as a little (much cheaper) rug all work brilliantly against our grey walls and are a wonderful contrast to the Scandi minimalism that has defined the last decade of interiors. Chuck a Missoni cushion on an Ikea sofa and the look is immediately enhanced. Perhaps, for some, swathes of pixelated floral bed linen, and multi coloured poufs; black and white patterned plates; colourful woven blankets; and floral bath mats… could all become too much, but, for us there is never enough! Why can’t combinations of eclectic styles work harmoniously together? Missoni proves that they can.
From the beginning, Missoni has championed playing with colours and patterns in a way that sets them apart from the other fashion houses. Missoni, still a family run company to this day, and known as the “Zig Zag” family, exploded onto the fashion scene some 60 years ago, initially with their bold jacquards and
knitwear. They have stayed true to their roots for over half a century, with the beauty of Missoni being that their use of colours and prints is still to this day as recognisable as it was some 60 years ago. There have been many collaborations with Missoni- from
Converse with their shoes to
Bugaboo (for the newbie mother still wanting her style fix) – all of them have been enormously successful, and all of them show how much incorporating a splash of zig zag colour works.
So, the next time you are having a little moment and are not quite sure of how to dress your otherwise perfectly neutral coloured, Scandi interior – go wild and just add a little sprinkle of Missoni Home. Our Christmas wish list is definitely peppered with Missoni Home.
